Custom Applications For Your Study Team

We can build and deploy custom software to support your data workflow that integrate into enterprise systems that run on secure hardware or cloud infrastructure.

Our Services

Research IT has a proven track record of building secure and compliant tools that integrate within the UW Medicine Ecosystem.

In House Research Applications

Purpose built applications such as Leaf which accelerates cohort and discovery by allowing self help tools for browsing and requesting IRB approved datasets from the UW Medicine EHR.

Administrative applications

Research IT helps our Research support staff realize efficiency through automations that increase the capacity of our teams and streamline operations.  We have built tools such as RISE to track activity for NIH reporting for ITHS and the TRU Scheduler which coordinates protocols using the Transaltional Research Unit clinical resources.

Study Specific Applications

Need a new application for your study? Sometimes the study itself is the application. At Research IT, we are experienced in creating short run applications to test the effectiveness of technology with participants. With a proven track record of building secure and compliant tools.

Data & Image Processing Pipelines

Big data has brought new challenges and opportunities for processing data and creating data sets for realizing new data or training new models for research.  Research IT has the access and the expertise to create the next generation of data driven learning and AI.

We empower researchers with the IT tools and data analysis to improve human health.

Examples of Our Work

How Research IT in house applications have impacted research at UW and UW Medicine

Leaf

Leaf is a self-service tool which provides UW investigators with a user friendly interface for querying the electronic health system records within UW Medicine. Unlike other cohort discovery tools, Leaf interacts directly with live data from the electronic health system and can generate reports in real time. Electronic health system data can help investigators answer a variety of questions about patient populations including medical and demographic information, clinical processes, and department statistics.

Leaf can produce results that are identifiable or de-identified data sets. In order to access identified data, you will first have to obtain IRB approval for human subjects research.

TRU Scheduler

The TRU (Translational Research Unit) calendar is a web based application built to meet the specific calendaring and scheduling requirements of an organization providing Clinical Resources to researchers such as Labs, Beds and Nurse activities such as the services provided by the ITHS.

RISE Database

RISE is an activity tracking system for institutions supporting medical researchers and staff. Administrators and Providers can track activities in the form of Projects, notes, events and services as well as maintain a record of the regulatory and reporting information specific to medical research.

Rates

The UW has Internal and External billing rates based on the Institution supported and their organizations status and funding source of the project.

Internal UW Rate

With UW Worktags

$150

External Rate

No UW Budget Number

$200

Industry Rate

Internal With Industry

$270

We invoice in the first week of the month for work done in the previous month. This amount will be automatically deducted from the supplied worktag. The billing contact you supply before beginning a consultation will get an invoice (from UW Central Billing) at that time, but generally doesn't have to do a thing.
