Research IT Tools
RIT has built or supports a variety of tools and resources to the institution and investigators to support their work.
Tools for Researchers and Research Support Staff
Research IT supports the unique technologies needs of researchers, either in collaboration with other institutions or building innovative tools ourselves. We want our researchers and the teams that support them to have the tools they need to do great work efficiently.
REDCap
Research IT hosts and administers the Institute of Translation Health Sciences (ITHS) REDCap instance, which is part of University of Washington’s NIH-funded Clinical and Translational Science Award supporting research within the Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho (WWAMI) Region. Researchers use REDCap for a variety of different purposes, including:
Administrating multi-site studies
Creating longitudinal studies with automatic follow-up surveys
Collecting data for low-budget clinical trials
Administering simple recruitment surveys
Supporting operational activities such as class registration or evaluation
Eliminating double data entry

Leaf
Leaf is a powerful, fun, lightweight web application for querying clinical data. Leaf helps query clinical databases of nearly any data model for cohort estimation and data extraction, and seamlessly integrates with existing enterprise authentication systems to unleash the potential of translational biomedical research.

RISE
RISE is an activity tracking system for institutions supporting medical researchers and staff. Administrators and Providers can track activities in the form of Projects, notes, events and services as well as maintain a record of the regulatory and reporting information specific to medical research.
Ensure the consistent capture of data and reporting of it.
Prevent the use of shadow systems which fragment ITHS data and increase risk of data loss.
Create efficiencies and data richness when storing all ITHS program activity in a single database.
LEAF, RISE and TRU Scheduler were built in house to support research.
TRU Scheduler
The TRU (Translational Research Unit) calendar is a web based application built to meet the specific calendaring and scheduling requirements of an organization providing Clinical Resources to researchers such as Labs, Beds and Nurse activities such as the services provided by the ITHS.
